WOODWORKING

Page #2

In the last 25 years I have built Jessica a Barbie dollhouse which we later sold at a garage sale, a puzzle board with "MOM" inlayed into the oak background, and an oak bedspread holder for my parents, currently in the loft at Dad's.
Update 2013: The bedspread holder has been moved from the loft to Dad's bedroom.

I built a cabana in my sister & Skip's backyard and a shelving unit for over Kathie's desk.

I have always liked to use wood with a story. I reused the side rails from my grandparents bedroom set to make game boards for my parents. I also put one piece of the same wood into each of 3 toyboxes. The toyboxes were given to one great grandchild and two great-great grandchildren of the original bed owners, my grandparents.

Tatiana's Toy Box

This was my 1st attempt at making a toy box. It was made in the early 1990's for my cousin Amy's son, Daniel, who to this day calls me Uncle Rich.

This one was a lot of fun !

I used my lathe to make the 4 bats and made the seat look like bleacher seats. A Giant's decal and home plate completed the box.

Kaleb's Toy Box

For the next 26 years. on San Antonio I have ended up with a fantastic workroom, remodeled another kitchen (twice), added a bathroom, and changed the entry to accommodate a spacious office with a walk-in pantry with ceiling storage.

One of my best ideas was my fence in our backyard!

Planed Redwood planks that always look like fresh wood!

Zack's Toy Box

To date, this is the last toy box I have made. It was for my Aunt Ginny's grandson, Zach who lives in Southern California.

During Christmastime, our backyard has become a Winter wonderland. Since we have no window that faces the street to decorate (and this is what Terrie misses from her childhood memories), we decorate the backyard with many lights and wooden cutouts. Some of the cutouts I made such as Mr. & Mrs. Santa kissing and some were purchased.
